Minor in African Studies
To obtain a Minor in African Studies, students are required to take:
(a) a first-year course: either AFRI1001 “Foundations in African Studies” (6 credits) or CCGL9013 Globalization: African Experiences (6 credits),
and
(b) 24 credits (for students who were admitted in September 2009 or before) or 30 credits (for students to be admitted in September 2010 and after) from the following second- and third-year courses:
AFRI2001. Educational field trip to an African country (6 credits)AFRI2002. Africa studies workshop (6 credits)
AFRI2003. Proficiency course in an African language X (6 credits)
AFRI2004. Introduction to African linguistics (6 credits)
AFRI2005. Africa-China relations (6 credits)
AFRI2006. African music (6 credits)
AFRI2007. African Nobel Laureates in Literature (6 credits)
FINE2057. Arts of West, Central and Southern Africa (6 credits)
LING2052. Swahili structure and Universal Grammar (6 credits)
